W 2016 roku odbyła się uroczystość nadania imienia legendarnego polskiego piłkarza - Włodzimierza Lubańskiego - Centrum Sportowo-Konferencyjnemu w Gniewinie. Wydarzenie upamiętnia odsłonięta wówczas tablica pamiątkowa usytuowana przy Stadionie Arena Mistrzów w Gniewinie.

- HMS: Przed Euro 2012 włączył się Pan do akcji promocyjnej i jako „ikona polskiego sportu”, zgodził się Pan zostać Ambasadorem Centrum Pobytowego w Gniewinie. Jak to się stało, że wybrał Pan Gniewino?
- Włodzimierz Lubański: Spotkałem Wójta Zbigniewa Walczaka w ambasadzie i zamieniliśmy ze sobą parę zdań. Była to bardzo miła rozmowa. Po paru dniach Pan Zbigniew do mnie zadzwonił i zaproponował taki projekt. Opowiedział mi, jak to będzie powstawało i wyglądało. Zaproponował mi, czy nie zechciałbym być ambasadorem tego projektu. Przyznam, że ta wizja mnie urzekła i z miłą chęcią się zgodziłem. Przyjechałem do Gniewina, zobaczyłem, co mieszkańcy
ii włodarze zrobili w tej miejscowości i byłem pełen podziwu oraz uznania. Dzisiaj z duma patrzę na Hotel Mistral Sport, warunki sportowe, rekreacyjne, turystyczne i jestem bardzo zadowolony, że podjąłem właśnie taką decyzję.
